Town charm is abundant in the Courthouse/Village region of Powhatan County. This area serves as the county seat and is located in the south-central sector of the county. Because Route 60 runs just north of the Courthouse/Village locality, visitors from surrounding communities have convenient access to all of the historical and cultural significance this locality has to offer.
The Powhatan County Courthouse itself is designated as a National Historic Landmark, and the square surrounding the courthouse is a historic district. While the square holds the secrets and splendor of yesteryear, including buildings dating back to the 1700s and grand old homes, there is no shortage of modern events in the Village Square. Each year, thousands of visitors make their way to Village Square for the annual Festival of the Grape. Further events and attractions around the square are enhanced by the region’s walkable nature.
