Midlothian

MidlothianJust to the east of Flat Rock along Route 60 is the unincorporated area of Midlothian. The community straddles the Powhatan/Chesterfield County lines, and as such, shares various roadways and subdivisions with its neighbor, Flat Rock. Some of the most popular shared communities in the region include Bel Crest, Founder’s Bridge, Huguenot Hundred and King William Woods. Midlothian is also located within easy driving distance of Richmond and all of the amenities and conveniences that come with a big city.

The Story Behind Midlothian

Historical in nature, Midlothian dates back to the 1700s, and remnants of years past are found all throughout the region. Visitors have the option to visit the old mines, impressive old buildings and homes – namely the Wooldridge-Jewett House (Crab Louie’s) – and interesting sites throughout the locality. Antique stores abound, but that is not to say that there are not plenty of modern shopping options. Chesterfield Town Center, Midlothian Station Shopping Center and Sycamore Square Shopping Center draw visitors from all around the region. National chain stores meet locally owned businesses to give Midlothian an eclectic feel.

Midlothian’s dining scene is also impressive, with a number of traditional American and more exotic dining options throughout the community. Some of the most renowned restaurants are located near the shopping centers or along the main roads for convenience. Options such as Pescados Seafood, Bell Greek Cuisine and Brick House Diner are local favorites.

Schools Near Midlothian

Midlothian residents are served by the Chesterfield County Public School District, though there are also private school offerings in nearby Richmond and Blessed Sacrament Huguenot in Powhatan. Further, employment opportunities are vast within the region, with a copious amount of businesses and, of course, Bon Secours Hospital. Being near Route 288 and several other important byways means that residents of Midlothian are never too far from exactly what they need or desire.
