Powhatan is a county that sits in Virginia’s Central Piedmont region. It is best known for its close proximity to the Appomattox and James Rivers. The prominent James River lies in the county’s northern border while the Appomattox River is on its southern part.
Revered because of its laid back lifestyle, the county is considered to be a part of the Greater Richmond Region. Powhatan is situated 20 miles west of Richmond, which is the Commonwealth’s capitol city. From Richmond, Washington D.C., Atlantic Ocean, Blue Ridge Mountains, and Colonial Williamsburg are easily reached through a 2-hour drive.
Traveling Powhatan is easy. Route 60 runs towards the east and west, while Route 522 runs North to South. Highway 288 is convenient located centrally in the County and will give you quick access to Short Pump and other cities. Route 288 also provides access to the Interstate 64 and 95.
