Founders Bridge Real Estate & Community
Established in the year 2001, this luxury community is spread over the borders of Powhatan and Chesterfield Counties and is known as Founders Bridge. The subdivision is easily accessible from the intersection of Winterfield Road and Founders Bridge Boulevard and is located near the midpoint of the area’s new high-speed highway, Route 288. With the high concentration of major roadways, the neighborhood is extremely accessible from both the village of Midlothian and the Richmond area. This makes Founders Bridge convenient for commuters and puts residents near all of the vast opportunities the region has to offer.

The land on which this neighborhood is set encompasses approximately 600 acres and includes sprawling wooded areas, dramatic elevation increases and rolling hills. Simply put: Founders Bridge offers stunning natural scenery at every turn. For those that appreciate a different outlook, the community was planned around an 18-hole golf course. Independence Golf Club was designed by professional golf course architect Tom Fazio and features mature tree lines, a gently undulating terrain and serene water features. Being set in one of the most beautiful areas of Virginia, Founders Bridge is also less than 1/2 mile from the colorful shoreline of the James River.
Founders Bridge Homes for Sale
Founders Bridge is a large-scale planned community, and once completed, there will be a total of approximately 400 homes. The very first houses in the subdivision were built in the year 2002, though there are also much newer homes on both sides of the county line. Several custom home builders contributed to the overall picture of Founders Bridge and worked together to form one cohesive look. The residences throughout the neighborhood are built in a wide variety of traditional styles to suit nearly any incoming resident perfectly. On the inside of the custom homes, premium finishes, including stainless steel appliances, high-end light fixtures and granite counters in the kitchens and baths, pair with luxurious must-haves, such as gourmet chef’s kitchens, first-floor master bedrooms, open living spaces, a high number of bedrooms and bathrooms – four to seven and three to six, respectively – and much more. On average, the custom residences boast between 3,000 and 8,000 square feet of usable living space, which are spread between one or two stories.
Each tract of land offers homeowners plenty of yard space on each side of their home. The smallest lots in Founders Bridge are just under a 1/2 acre in size, while the largest measure in at just over 1 acre. With the generous lot sizes, homeowners have ample space for a pool, should they so desire, and lots of room for gardening and backyard entertaining. The natural essence of Founders Bridge leaves plenty of tall trees surrounding the properties, and this adds a sought-after sense of privacy.
This subdivision is much more than just houses, though. Within the 600-plus acres of Founders Bridge, residents have access to a number of communal recreational amenities, including three swimming pools, a playground for children, tennis courts and miles upon miles of walking and hiking trails to enjoy. The community is, of course, built around the renowned Independence Golf Course. Because the Virginia State Golf Association calls this course home, residents of the community have the opportunity to join the VSGA for a discounted rate. There is also a beautiful and scenic park and several open green spaces within the confines of Founder’s Bridge to further the opportunities to enjoy nature.
Founders Bridge Community & Lifestyle
A popular gathering place for residents of all walks of life, the community center is a hub for Founders Bridge. Here, residents have access to plenty of space for meetings, and in fact, this is the most popular meeting space for the neighborhood’s homeowners association, board of directors, grounds committee and various other organizations essential to the continued success of the subdivision. As if this were not enough, there is a weight room for resident use, and outside the community center is where members of Founder Bridge find the tennis courts, pool and cabana. The community center and its amenities are available to every resident in every phase of the neighborhood.
Homeowners looking for a true sense of community need not look any further than the Founders Bridge subdivision. Here, neighbors are more than just a group of people living in the same area. There is an active social scene within the neighborhood that includes a number of groups to join and annual events to attend. One of the most notable organizations is the Electric Eels Swim Team, which is open to swimmers of all levels, beginner to expert. Of course, there are several neighborhood-related clubs and groups for adults to join, as well, including planning committees.
